Future Enhancements
The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is focused on the future of Monmouth County and is planning for the continued commutation of residents to New York City for business and pleasure. The continued enhancement of the Belford Ferry Terminal will provide more opportunities for public access.
As ridership continues to increase, the county is looking at ways to address the growth by determining the most feasible, effective and efficient options to support commutation to New York City. Some of the items under consideration include an additional ferry berth and more parking.
An educational interpretative center is envisioned which will highlight and exhibit the region’s history and provide water-related educational outreach programs. Also, bayfront beach access is envisioned as well as additional pedestrian and bicycle access to the county’s nearby Henry Hudson Trail and the Bayshore Waterfront Park.
