Monmouth County Strategic Plan
In 2009, the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders adopted a strategic plan for county operations that includes detailed, measurable goals for the delivery of county services. By adopting the plan Monmouth County became the first county in New Jersey to create a strategic plan for county operations. The creation of such a plan was originally recommended in a report issued by the county’s bipartisan 2007 Budget Review Committee.
The Strategic Planning teamIn today's environment, county government needs to be positioned to keep up with the changes its communities demand. A strategic plan provides a solid foundation to assist the County in charting its future course as it strives to provide the best possible services to the residents and businesses of Monmouth County.
After completing an extensive information-gathering process in 2008, the Strategic Plan Committee analyzed the data, made recommendations and prepared a plan for consideration and adoption by the Board of Chosen Freeholders .
The county identified nine strategic planning areas:
  • Administrative/Financial
  • Citizen Services
  • Education
  • Health and Human Services
  • Municipalities
  • Planning and Economic Development
  • Public Safety and Regulation
  • Recreation and Library
  • Transportation, Traffic and Public Works
The Freeholders have advanced many of the action items in the strategic plan as they continue to make Monmouth County the place you want to be.
