MCDSS administers WorkFirst (WFNJ), NJ's Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) Program, General Assistance (GA), and Food Stamps. MCDSS determines financial eligibility for Medicaid programs, provides child support and general social services; emergency shelter to TANF, GA and SSI recipients.

Days and Hours:

  • Freehold at 3000 Kozloski Road; Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Ocean Township at 2405 Route 66; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Outreach offices offer application and re-determination activities for TANF, Food Stamps, GA and Medicaid. Services Provided: In addition to Food Stamps, TANF, General Assistance and Medicaid, MCDSS offers case management, counseling and support services to: families and children, pregnant teens, teenage parents, mothers of high risk infants, physically handicapped children and adults; also to: adults living in the community, boarding homes and health care facilities. Medical transportation, child support services, protective services for adults of all ages for abuse/neglect in boarding homes, aftercare to individuals discharged from psychiatric, drug or alcohol abuse programs, pregnancy prevention counseling. Housing related services including rent subsidies, home repair, tenant/landlord relations, and housing modification for disabled persons. Volunteer services in coordination with community groups.

Method of Application: In person application in any office suggested. Application for certain financial support programs may take several hours to complete. Home visits can be arranged in special cases.
