County Commissioners recognize
Fire Prevention Month in October
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners recognized October as Fire Prevention Month in Monmouth County
during a Workshop Meeting on Oct. 22.
“Fire Prevention Month is an important reminder for
residents to review fire safety practices and take steps to help protect their
homes and families,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “My fellow
Commissioners and I want to recognize and thank our volunteer and career
firefighters for their dedication, bravery and continued commitment to keeping
our communities safe throughout the year.”
On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Deputy Director Dominick “Nick”
DiRocco presented the proclamation to Monmouth County Fire Marshal Craig
Flannigan Sr. and Monmouth County Fire Academy Coordinator Vincent Adamkiewicz.
“Fire prevention is about engaging the public about ways to stay safe
when around fire. This year’s campaign, ‘Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging
is a Superpower,’ focuses on everyday charging habits that can help reduce the
risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer,” said
Commissioner Deputy Director DiRocco, liaison to the Monmouth County Fire
Marshal’s Office. “The campaign is stressing the importance of using the cord
and charger that came with a device, charging devices on a hard, flat surface,
unplugging a device when it is fully charged and other important practices to avoid
fire hazards.”
