Monmouth County Recycling Superhero naming contest now includes grades 6 and 8
All previous submissions do not need to be resubmitted

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners has expanded its recycling superhero naming contest to include all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Monmouth County.

“Earlier this year, we unveiled our new recycling education trailer and launched a contest to name its superhero,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Now, we are excited to expand the contest to include all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Monmouth County.”

“For all seventh graders who previously submitted an entry, thank you for participating in our exciting contest,” added Commissioner Director Arnone. “Your original entry will still be considered, so there is no need to submit it again.”

Contest Rules:

  • Open to all sixth, seventh, and eighth students in Monmouth County
  • Submissions will be accepted through Friday, October 30
  • Each entry must create a story (written or digital) with their newly named superhero explaining the importance of recycling
  • Submissions may be sent by:

“We are inviting sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to bring our new high flying recycling superhero to life through their own creative stories,” said Commissioner Director Arnone. “Through this creative opportunity, we encourage students to highlight the importance of recycling and share helpful recycling tips in a fun and engaging way. We can’t wait to see all of the entries!”

The County welcomes schools and community organizations to learn more about the recycling education trailer and request a visit.

“The mobile unit features six interactive gaming stations, where multiple people are able to play at the same time,” said Commissioner Director Arnone. “Each station includes custom-designed games that star our superhero and the importance of recycling properly and how small everyday actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet. We encourage schools and community groups to bring this experience to their next event.”
