Commissioners honor Megan Watts for being named Monmouth County Teacher of the Year

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners congratulated Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District teacher Megan Watts for her selection as the 2026-27 Monmouth County Teacher of the Year during a Workshop Meeting on Sept. 24.

Watts is an eighth-grade mathematics teacher at the Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School. A teacher in each County is selected by the New Jersey Department of Education for Teacher of the Year.

“My fellow Commissioners and I are excited to highlight an outstanding educator like Megan,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Since beginning her career in education nine years ago, Megan has become known for creating a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, perseverance and confidence in mathematics. Congratulations to Megan on this well-deserved honor.”

A certificate of recognition was presented by Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Superintendent of Schools, on behalf of the Board, to Watts.

“Megan’s impact on her students and colleagues extends well beyond the classroom,” said Commissioner Anderson. “From helping lead the school’s mathematics team and advising Student Council and Future Teachers of America to co-founding the school’s Dance Team, contributing choreography to school productions and supporting her colleagues through Faculty Council and the Sunshine Committee, Megan’s leadership, creativity, and commitment to service are reflected in all she does, making her a valued presence throughout her school community.”
