Commissioner Director provides update regarding Nor’easter impacting Monmouth County

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone released the following storm update.

“As we continue to experience the effects of the Nor’easter that began this morning, my fellow Commissioners and I are reminding Monmouth County residents that we are in a State of Emergency and to not travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

I have been in contact with emergency management officials who have advised that residents need to be aware of flood conditions in the low-lying and flood prone areas of the County. While tides have rescinded, there will be another high tide occurring later this evening that could continue to cause damage and be dangerous.

Many roads in the low-lying areas are closed so please make sure to follow all detours and the instructions of first responders in the area. High winds continue to impact our area so make sure all outdoor items are secured or put away in a safe location.

In addition, I have been in constant contact with JCP&L regarding the 2,500 residents that are without power. I have been told they are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power for those residents. Please make sure to report any outages by texting "OUT" to 544487, calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or visiting JCP&L’s website. I will continue to engage with them until every resident’s power is restored.

During this weekend’s storm, please be cautious and follow the instructions of first responders. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1.

I want to thank all of our first responders and County staff who are working hard to keep Monmouth County safe during the storm.”
