Monmouth County Surrogate hosts
‘Plan with Purpose: Creating Your Will’

SHREWSBURY, NJ – Monmouth County Surrogate Maureen T. Raisch presented “Plan with Purpose: Creating Your Will” during a presentation at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library System on Friday, Sept. 18.

“I was very happy to see so many residents taking the first step to getting their affairs in order by attending this presentation,” said Surrogate Raisch. “I understand what a heavy topic creating a will can be, so my goal is to find ways to make it as simple, and even as fun, as I possibly can. My hope is that our new ‘I’m Just a Will’ initiative will do just that.”

The Monmouth County Surrogate’s new “I’m Just a Will” initiative is an engaging program that walks people through the process of creating a will, explains important estate-planning terms and, highlights the benefits of planning ahead. The initiative features an activity book that is designed to make creating a will approachable, informative and memorable, which can be requested through the Surrogate’s office.

The Surrogate’s Court is a department of County government and a branch of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Its responsibilities include administration of an estate - admitting wills to probate or granting administrations for estates without a will; guardians of incapacitated persons filings and annual reporting’s; reviewing and filing adoptions; managing the minors’ intermingled trust fund as the custodian of that fund; and official custodian of records for estates, wills, guardianships and adoptions.
