County Commissioners proclaim April as
Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners celebrated April 2026 as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month,
highlighting the importance of understanding, inclusion and support for
individuals with autism and their families, during a workshop meeting on April 23.
A proclamation was presented by Commissioner
Director Thomas A. Arnone to representatives of the Achieve Academy for Adults.
“My fellow Commissioners and I are proud to
celebrate Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, which recognizes individuals
who are living with autism and their loved ones,” said Commissioner Director
Arnone. “I am honored to serve on the Board of the Achieve Academy with Sheriff
Shaun Golden and Dr. Les Richens, and we have seen firsthand the incredible
impact services and resources like this have on those living with autism.”
According to their website, the Achieve Academy for
Adults specializes in DDD/Medicaid approved Day Habilitation center dedicated
to serving adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). The
academy provides comprehensive support, educational opportunities, and skill
development programs tailored to our clients’ unique needs. They are committed
to fostering independence, personal growth, and community integration for
individuals with I/DD in a supportive and enriching environment. To learn more,
