Commissioners proclaim September 2025
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners has proclaimed September 2025 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
in Monmouth County.
“My fellow Commissioners and I are proud to recognize
September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
to raise awareness about a disease that affects far too many families in our Country,”
said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Through this proclamation, we
join communities across the nation in honoring the lives of children affected
by cancer, those we have lost, those who continue to fight, and those who have
survived.”
Cancer is the leading cause of death among children
in the United States, with approximately 15,780 children diagnosed with cancer
before the age of 19 each year, according to the American Childhood Cancer
Organization.
“This recognition provides an opportunity to honor
the resilience of young patients, and acknowledge the profound impact that
pediatric cancer has on families, communities, and healthcare professionals
alike,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley, liaison to the
Department of Health and Human Services. “It’s our duty to listen, to learn,
and to stand in support of those navigating this incredibly difficult journey.”
