to host annual Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony
FREEHOLD, NJ – The
Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners will host their annual September
11 Memorial Ceremony to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks of September
11, 2001 on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 at 8 a.m. at Mount Mitchill Scenic
Overlook, 460 Ocean Blvd., Atlantic Highlands.
“My fellow Commissioners and I invite everyone to
attend the County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to mark the anniversary of the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “The
County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony reaffirms our commitment to never forget the
victims who lost their lives on that day and in the days that followed.”
“Our County tragically lost 147 people who were
born, raised, or resided in Monmouth County during the terrorist attacks of
September 11, 2001 and the County’s Memorial Ceremony honors their memory,
“said Commissioner Ross F. Licitra, liaison to the Monmouth County Park System.
“With symbolic components throughout the Memorial, it is a powerful reminder of
those we lost on that tragic day and the impact it had on families throughout
Monmouth County and the Country.”
The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners
also invite family members of Monmouth County’s 9/11 victims to participate in
the ceremony.
“We invite the loved ones
of those who lost their lives to not only attend the ceremony, but to take part
in it by reading the names of those we lost in Monmouth County,” said
Commissioner Director Arnone. “We know in some instances close family members
have moved away or may not be able to join us, so we also welcome extended
family who would like to help honor their loved ones.”
