Monmouth County Board of Commissioners highlight Allenhurst Shared Services
Borough makes use of Public Works shared services

FREEHOLD, NJ – As part of an ongoing series spotlighting successful shared services partnerships, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is proud to showcase the Shared Services agreements between Monmouth County and the Borough of Allenhurst.

In 2008-2009, Allenhurst signed a Municipal Assistance and Commodity Resale Agreement with Monmouth County. Guided by the Department of Public Works and Engineering, the Municipal Assistance Agreement allows government entities to request various services such as street sweeping, salt and snow services, vehicle washing and more. The Commodity Resale Agreement allows local government entities the ability to purchase commodities such as snow removal chemicals, gasoline and more.

“The Monmouth County Department of Public Works consistently and seamlessly provides reliable services for towns like Allenhurst,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Office of Shared Services and the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “With these two agreements in place, municipalities receive back up services that they can rely on in times of need.”

The Commodity Resale and Municipal Assistance Agreement creates a positive reduction in costs to taxpayers and relieve budgetary stress while continuing and potentially expanding the routine delivery of services. The Department of Public Works and Engineering effectually maintains and develops public infrastructure with the utmost efficiency.

“A true success story has been our partnership with the County for the procurement of pre-mixed brine during the winter months. This collaboration has helped ensure our DPW team is prepared to act swiftly and effectively before each storm. The County has been consistently dependable—opening early, staying late, and even directing us to alternate locations when supply was limited or equipment was down. That level of coordination makes all the difference in a small town like ours,” said Frieda Adjmi, Mayor of Allenhurst.

“Thanks to Monmouth County’s shared services, our Department of Public Works has been able to respond quickly and confidently during winter weather events. The County’s support and flexibility ensure that our DPW has what it needs to keep Allenhurst safe and running smoothly, even under challenging conditions.” Adjmi added. “We’re grateful to be part of a county that truly understands the value of partnership.”

Other shared service agreements that Allenhurst utilizes are the Public Safety Answering Point, Tax Board MOD IV and iTax Map.
