County Commissioners celebrate completion
of intersection improvements in West Long Branch
Officials fully activate traffic signal
at intersection to improve safety
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of
County Commissioners celebrated the completion of intersection improvements to
County Route 15 and Palmer Road on Monday, June 23.
“On behalf of my fellow Commissioners, I am excited to highlight
the intersection improvements for County Route 15 and Palmer Road,” said
Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Division of Engineering.
"I would like to thank County staff, the Borough of West Long Branch, Van
Cleef Engineering and J.C. Contracting Inc. for making these critical safety
improvements."
The project consisted of upgrading the existing
stop-controlled intersection to a new traffic signal-controlled intersection
and the installation of pedestrian accommodations including sidewalk, curb
ramps and crosswalks.
“This project showcases how safety is at the cornerstone of
everything we do here in Monmouth County,” said Commissioner Director Arnone.
The project was constructed by J.C. Contracting, Inc. for a
contract amount of $1,050,596.04. The engineering firm for the project Van
Cleef Engineering.
In total, Monmouth County maintains approximately 1,000 lane
miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
