Monmouth County Board of Commissioners highlight Oceanport Shared
Services
Borough has received services since 1998
FREEHOLD,
NJ – As part of an ongoing series spotlighting successful shared services partnerships,
the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is proud to showcase the
Shared Services agreements between Monmouth County and the Borough of
Oceanport.
In
2008, Oceanport signed a Municipal Assistance and Commodity Resale Agreement
with Monmouth County. The Municipal Assistance Agreement allows
government entities to request various services such as street sweeping, salt
and snow services, vehicle washing and more.
“Monmouth
County is proud to partner with our municipalities on a variety of projects and
services,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Office
of Shared Services. “Our Shared Services program allows the County to assist
our partners and provide important services at a lower cost to the taxpayers.”
“Having
this agreement saved the day and the County employees saved the day by putting
the lights on an 80-foot Christmas tree for the Borough’s first ever ‘Christmas
Extravaganza’. The employees were courteous, diligent, and helped make
this event a tremendous success,” said Thomas Tvrdik, Mayor of Oceanport.
With the
Commodity Resale Agreement, the County purchases certain commodities from other
contracting units to be provided by purchase. Some commodities may include
gasoline, snow removal chemicals, public works supplies/materials and more.
“Oceanport
municipal complex is in Fort Monmouth, where the County has a
facility. Being able to have our municipal vehicles “gas up” on almost a
daily basis and having access to salt and brine during the winter months helps
our DPW, Police and Fire Department, EMS and OEM,” Tvrdik added.
“Commodity
Resale agreements are a true cost savings for our municipalities,” said
Commissioner Director Arnone. “It allows the County to purchase commodities at
a lower rate and pass those savings onto the municipalities.”
Other shared service
agreements that Oceanport utilizes are the Public Safety Answering Point, Tax
Board MOD IV, Open Public Records System, Community Rating System, iTax Map,
Health Services and Shrewsbury River Automated Flood Warning.
