County Commissioners present plans to improve Manasquan intersection at Council Meeting

MANASQUAN, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners presented plans to improve County Route 20 (Broad and South streets) and Main Street intersection to the Manasquan Borough Council during their Council Meeting on Monday, June 2.

“As everyone knows, Manasquan has seen an influx of traffic and visitors to the town, not just during the summer, but year-round, and we want to make sure everyone stays safe as they drive, bike or walk throughout the Borough,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “I’d like to thank the Council for supporting this project and we look forward to the next steps to turn this project into a reality.”

The proposed improvements include widening the intersection to allow for a one-lane roundabout, which will significantly improve traffic flow and safety by eliminating the need for left turn movements at the intersection.

“I want to express our deepest thanks on behalf of the people of Manasquan to the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners and, in particular, Commissioner Director Tom Arnone. The County has been a true partner in helping correct Manasquan's most dangerous intersection with planning and financial assistance,” said Manasquan Mayor Michael W. Mangan. “This intersection improvement will increase green space, improve pedestrian and bicycle travel paths, and smooth the flow of vehicular traffic, all while making it safer. Manasquan looks forward to working with the County on the final design and seeing this project come to fruition.”
