County Commissioners congratulate MCVSD student upon earning Congressional civilian award

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners recognized Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) High Technology High School senior Suchit Basineni of Marlboro for being named a recipient of a Congressional Award gold medal during the Commissioner Workshop Meeting on May 6.

“On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, we congratulate Suchit for being named a recipient of a Congressional Award gold medal,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Suchit has been pursuing this award for five years and completed 400 hours of volunteer service, 200 hours of personal development and 200 hours of physical fitness. We commend his dedication and service.”

According to the Congressional Award website, the United States Congress established the Award in 1979 to recognize initiative, service, and achievement in young people. It began as a bipartisan effort in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. The award is Congress’ highest honor for civilian youth.

“Suchit has done a remarkable job giving hundreds of hours to mentoring youth, teaching science, technology, engineering and math, and supporting individuals with disabilities in addition to his own academic pursuits at High Technology High School,” said Commissioner Dominick “Nick” DiRocco, liaison to the MCVSD. “Suchit’s efforts included building a public weather safety information kiosk, studying robotics, and performing an in-depth virtual exploration of Maui, Hawaii. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”
