County Commissioners proclaim April as
Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners has proclaimed April as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, highlighting
the importance of understanding, inclusion, and support for individuals with
autism and their families, during the Board’s workshop meeting on April 15.
“The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners
is proud to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month, which recognizes those living
with autism and their loved ones,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone.
“Earlier this month, I was honored to speak at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s
Office 6th Annual Autism Awareness Forum and Resource Fair, which serves as a
powerful platform to promote understanding, share resources, and support
individuals and families within the special needs community.”
“Autism affects 1 in 36 children in the United
States, and we must ensure that programs and services are accessible to those
who need them,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley, liaison to
the Department of Health and Human Services. “Early detection of autism helps
ensure every child can reach their full potential. It gives children a chance
to grow with confidence, connection, and support—and that can make all the
difference.”
