Monmouth County Commissioners highlight
Long Branch shared services success stories
City has been receiving services since 1998

FREEHOLD, NJ – As part of their series highlighting successful shared services partnerships, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners would like to feature Shared Services agreements between Monmouth County and the City of Long Branch.

In 2020, Long Branch signed a Community Rating System Shared Service agreement with Monmouth County. Through this agreement, the City of Long Branch has been able to provide flood insurance premium discounts for their residents.

A Community Rating System agreement enables government agencies to access and utilize the County’s online CRS/floodplain management platform, which collects, consolidates, and delivers flood hazard area data for the municipality.

“The Community Rating System reduces the stress of administrative processes and software-related operating costs for our partners,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Monmouth County Office of Shared Services. “This agreement will ensure that Long Branch is in compliance with FEMA-NFIP rules and regulations.”

“This agreement, guided by the Monmouth County Planning Board, offers local government entities the use of a web-based system that obtains, aggregates and provides flood hazard area information and data for municipalities,” said Mayor of Long Branch, John Pallone. “This is beneficial to our city because the Long Branch Area is in a flood zone bordered by Branchport Creek, Troutman’s Creek, Manahassett Creek and Lake Takanassee.”

The Monmouth County Office of Shared Services is always looking to develop partnerships with local government entities. The County provides services, equipment and resources to local government which continues to decrease costs and increase efficiencies.

The City of Long Branch also utilities the Commodity Resale, Public Safety Answering Point, Municipal Assistance, Tax Board MOD IV, and iTax Map Agreements.

The Shared Services team is available to assist municipal officials through the process of securing an agreement or answer any questions they may have. Please call 732-431-7460 or email sharedservices@co.monmouth.nj.us to learn more.
