County Commissioners highlight Holmdel Township Shared Services success stories
Township receives EMS support with MedStar

FREEHOLD, NJ – As part of their series on successful shared services partnerships, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners would like to showcase the Shared Services agreements between Monmouth County and Holmdel Township.

Holmdel Township has been using shared services agreements since 1998 and since 2009, the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office 9-1-1 Communications Center has been handling the township's 9-1-1 emergency calls through a Public Safety Answering Point agreement with Monmouth County.

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Medical Services Operation, MedStar is now providing additional EMS support to Holmdel Township. Serving as a backup unit to Holmdel’s current EMS will now ensure residents receive quick and effective emergency care.

"Volunteer EMTs work relentlessly to ensure public safety and save lives, but the ongoing staffing shortages have posed a serious challenge. MedStar is here to offer much-needed support," said Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "MedStar helps strengthen our volunteer force and ensures that residents receive the fastest and most effective emergency care."

“By integrating MedStar as a secondary unit to assist Holmdel EMS, we are enhancing the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies and provide prompt and professional medical care when it’s needed the most,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. “It will strengthen the emergency response system in Holmdel and reinforce Monmouth County’s commitment to the public safety and the well-being of residents.”

“We are grateful that the County stepped in to assist Holmdel Township and our excellent EMS squad of volunteers to help cover us during our times of need. We have time and again used the County for shared services with great outcomes,” said Mayor of Holmdel Township, Brian Foster.
