Commissioners invite public to comment on New Jersey State Plan update
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners invites residents to attend a State Planning Commission’s public
meeting where they can share their feedback on the latest update to New
Jersey's Preliminary State Development and Redevelopment Plan on Monday, March
31, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Monmouth County Agricultural Building,
located at 4000 Kozloski Rd.
“The Monmouth County Division of Planning has been
working closely with the Monmouth County Geographic Information Services team
to create an interactive online tool, facilitating public and municipal
participation in the State's Cross-Acceptance process,” said Commissioner Director
Thomas A. Arnone. “Cross-Acceptance (CA) is a collaborative process that
updates the State Plan by comparing statewide planning policies across various
government levels, aiming to achieve consistency between municipal, county, regional,
and State agency plans.”
This Hub offers essential information on
Cross-Acceptance, including access to the Preliminary State Plan, maps,
instructional videos, and a dedicated portal for public comments.
“This update marks the second attempt to revise the
State Plan, which was last approved in 2001,” said Commissioner Ross F. Licitra,
member of the Monmouth County Planning Board. “Every municipality in the County
has been invited to participate in this important process, with each either
establishing a municipal Cross-Acceptance committee or having a designated
representative.”
As part of the Cross-Acceptance process, the State
Planning Commission will hold public meetings in all 21 counties between
February 12 and April 16, 2025. These meetings aim to educate the public on the
process and provide a forum for state, local, and county officials, as well as
other stakeholders, to review, comment on, and discuss proposed changes to the
State Plan.
“I would like to commend the Division of Planning
for their continuous work in topical planning areas including development
review, strategic and long-range planning, environment and sustainability,
geographic information systems (GIS), community development, and transportation,”
said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Division of Planning. “Their
hard work is one of the many reasons Monmouth County is an incredible place to
live, work and raise a family. To learn more about the Division of Planning, go
