County Commissioners recognize
National Library Week 2024
National Library
Week occurs from April 7-13
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth
County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation in honor of
American Library Association’s National Library Week 2024, which takes place
from April 7 through 13 during the April 11 Commissioner Workshop Meeting.
“National
Library Week is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries and library
workers while promoting the services and resources they offer to their
communities,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “The theme for
National Library Week 2024 is ‘Ready, Set, Library,’ illustrating the idea that
in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly
special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills or enjoy reading a
new book.”
“The Monmouth
County Library System is an incredible resource for our residents.,” said
Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Library System. “In
addition to the thousands of books, E-books and audiobooks that the Monmouth
County Library System has to offer, they also host author talks, workshops and
book clubs where residents can connect with fellow enthusiasts and local
experts to learn new skills or about a new topic. I encourage everyone to visit
their local branch to learn more about these important services.”
National Library Week, which dates to 1958, is
sponsored by the American Library Association and observed in libraries across
the country each April. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and
special - participate.
