County Commissioners congratulate County 4-H
Agent for receiving Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence Award
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners would like to congratulate Monmouth County 4-H Agent, Matthew R.
Newman, for receiving the
Presidential Fellowship for Teaching
Excellence through Rutgers University as part of their 2022-23 Faculty Year-End
Excellence Awards.
“We are proud to announce that Matthew Newman has
received the Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence and congratulate
him for earning this award,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “This
award honors newly promoted and tenured faculty members who have made truly
outstanding contributions to teaching during their early years at Rutgers
University.”
Newman is the County Extension Department Head and an
associate professor for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Monmouth County
through the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers
University–New Brunswick.
“Matthew is a shining star and continues to impress
all of us with his hard work and dedication to the 4-H program and mission,”
said Commissioner Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Rutgers Cooperative
Extension. “Our 4-H clubs are located throughout the County and are led by
trained adult volunteers. 4-H is a network of organizations whose goals are to
provide educational opportunities for youth, encourage responsibility,
community awareness and character development, strengthen potential job skills
and improve community partnerships and collaborations. We thank Matthew for his
leadership and congratulate him on this well-deserved award.”
