County to host virtual Senior Art Show
Artwork to be displayed through Sept. 4

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in collaboration with the Monmouth County Office on Aging, Library System and Monmouth Arts, will present the 2020 Senior Art Show, which will be hosted by the Monmouth Arts Digital Gallery in a virtual format.

“We invite all Monmouth County seniors to partake in the 2020 Senior Art Show, which will be virtually held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley, liaison to the Monmouth County Office on Aging. “This is a wonderful program that the County did not want to postpone, as numerous seniors partake in the County Art Show to display their talents and beautiful work.”

Applications for the Art Show will be accepted through Friday, July 24. The application s will only be accepted digitally this year. For any questions regarding the art show, contact Vinny at 732-212-1890, ext. 6 or email Vinny@monmoutharts.org.

Eligibility criteria are as follows:

· Be a visual artist, professional or non-professional, age 60 or older

· Monmouth County resident

· Submit one piece of original artwork completed in the last three years

· Submit a piece that has not previously been submitted to a county Senior Citizen Art Show or the New Jersey State Senior Citizen Annual Juried Art Contest and Exhibition

“The Senior Art Show is always an enjoyable event that we do not want to delay due to unpredicted circumstances,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Monmouth County Library System. “Unfortunately, we will not be able to have a physical reception; therefore the awards will be livestreamed on the Monmouth County Library website and the Monmouth Arts Facebook page on Wednesday, August 12 at noon.”

Monmouth Arts will produce a short digital video, which will highlight the 2020 winner of the show. The first place winners of the Monmouth County exhibit will advance to the State Senior Art Show.
