Oceanic Bridge use restricted to passenger cars only
3-ton weight restriction to stay in place until at least Nov. 15

FREEHOLD – Effective 7 a.m. tomorrow, the Oceanic Bridge will remain open for cars only until engineers can further assess the condition of the half-mile-long structure.
The bridge, which carries County Route 8A (Bingham Avenue) over the Navesink River between Rumson and Middletown, is being down-posted to a 3-ton weight limit, which means large SUVs, pickup trucks, buses and heavier trucks are not permitted to use it.
The restriction will remain in effect until at least Nov. 15 to allow for an in-depth review of the down-posting and/or necessary repairs.
