Monmouth County 4-H to host Animal Academy 

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County 4-H Small Animal Project will host an Animal Academy on Saturday, Jan. 12, with a snow date of Jan. 13, starting at 9 a.m. at the Monmouth County Agricultural Building at 4000 Kozloski Rd.

This educational seminar is open to all County residents whether they are a 4-H member/volunteer or not.

The Animal Academy offers several classes about rabbits, guinea pigs, amphibians, horses and livestock. Topics range from caring for baby guinea pigs to learning about livestock digestion.

“This is a remarkable seminar where County residents can learn more about small and large animals in a nurturing environment,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, liaison to Monmouth County 4-H. “Proceeds will be going directly to the Monmouth County 4-H Small Animal Project to assist with the costs of educational programming as well as the annual 4-H small animal show held in the spring.”

The cost to attend is $5.00 per participant on or before Jan. 4 or $7.00 for same-day registration.

The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, a unit of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13 (one year out of high school), on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, marital status, domestic partnership status, military service, veteran status and any other category protected by law.
