Bridge W-38 on Schoolhouse Road Opens
with Ribbon Cutting Celebration

WALL/NEPTUNE TOWNSHIPS, NJ – Monmouth County held a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the newly reconstructed Bridge W-38 on Schoolhouse Road, which crosses Shark River, after nine months of closure.

“We appreciate the cooperation and patience of all the residents who may have been inconvenienced during the construction period,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “I’m happy to say they will find a much-improved structure, replacing the original structure built in 1948. The reconstruction of this bridge, which serves as a vital link between Wall Township and Neptune, was funded through the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund.”

The new, single span bridge is wider than the original timber bridge to match the existing roadway, and now includes upgraded guide rails and six-foot wide walkways on both sides of the bridge deck. In addition, utilities were relocated, the roadway approaches were re-constructed and drainage improvements were made.

Freeholder Director Arnone spoke at the ceremony today, attended by local officials, residents and business owners.
