BRADLEY BEACH, NJ – Once again, wet and windy weather has pushed Monmouth County’s welcome of the 2017 tourism season to a new time -  2:15 p.m. on Friday, May 26 at the corner of Fifth and Ocean Avenues (at the Bradley Beach gazebo).

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Office of Tourism will now welcome the summer season at a news conference with the student body of the Bradley Beach Elementary school and representatives of attractions, chambers of commerce and hotels. The business owners will talk about what’s in store Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Here’s what’s also on tap:

  • Winners of the first-ever Monmouth County Summer Kick-off poster contest will be revealed – students from Bradley Beach Elementary School will take a break from their annual field day to find out who among them takes home Monmouth County summer prize packages.
  • See what beach-goers in the early 20th century wore (and take a moment to put yourself in their sandals)!

The summer season brings day, weekend and weeklong visitors to Monmouth County beaches, boardwalks and businesses (shopping, attractions and dining). The economic impact to the county is reflected in hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, beach badge sales and more.

County and local officials will be in attendance along with representatives from chambers of commerce, Monmouth Park Racetrack, and the Breakers Hotel of Spring Lake.

When: 2:15 p.m. on Friday, May 26

Where: At the gazebo on the Promenade
