Oceanport Drainage Project to Begin
Two-day closure for storm pipe replacement

OCEANPORT, NJ – Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering crews will replace a storm drainage pipe on Monmouth Boulevard (CR-33) next Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6, weather-permitting.

To perform these repairs, the Monmouth County Division of Highway will close Monmouth Boulevard between Shrewsbury Avenue and Port-Au-Peck Avenue. Vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians should plan to use an alternate route during the two day period. Detour signs will be posted.

The project involves replacement of the existing undersized and deteriorated storm drainage pipe, approximately 80-ft. west of Bayview Place.

“The drainage pipe upgrade will address a frequent and long-standing ponding and flooding problem on Monmouth Boulevard,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “This work is critical and we are committed to limiting the inconvenience to the travelling public.”
