Whipporwill Valley Road to close Wednesday

Three week bridge repair project from March 23 to April 6

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Whipporwill Valley Road, from Chapel Hill Road to Bowne Road, over McClees Creek will close to all traffic at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23 and remain closed for approximately three weeks.

“Due to the age and deteriorated condition of the culvert, rehabilitation of this structure is necessary,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The County understands the inconvenience the detours will have on motorists and local residents, but our goal is to repair the existing 18-foot stone arch span to maintain its serviceability for travelers in the area.”

Whipporwill Valley Road will be closed to through traffic from Chapel Hill Road to Bowne Road and open to only local traffic up until the point of the closure at the structure. All other motorists should follow the posted detours and expect travel delays throughout the entire project area.

The work will be performed by the County’s on-call maintenance contractor, IEW Construction Group Inc. of Trenton and the Bridge Division of the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering.

In total, the county maintains of approximately 380 miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
