County Bridge O-11 to close Monday

Bridge will remain closed through May 2016

LOCH ARBOUR, NJ – County Bridge O-11 on Main Street over Deal Lake will close to all traffic at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 and remain closed until May 2016.

“Monmouth County is replacing the bridge on Main Street that crosses over Deal Lake,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “Utility relocations were performed before Memorial Day 2015, but work was halted during the summer to limit impacts on summer tourism. With the passing of Labor Day, we are now ready to start the bridge reconstruction.”

This week, the County’s Public Works division staff and the contractor, Precise Construction Inc. of Freehold, NJ, have been mobilizing resources and setting detour signs in place this week in the area of the bridge that connects Loch Arbour and Interlaken.

All traffic will be detoured during the construction period. Northbound traffic traveling on Main Street (State Route 71) will continue onto Deal Lake Drive (State Route 71) to Elberon Avenue and then back to Main Street (State Route 71). Southbound traffic will reverse the same route. Signs are posted.

“Motorists should expect travel delays in the area throughout the bridge replacement project,” said Arnone.

The works is being performed by Precise Construction Inc. The cost of construction is $4,272,984.

In total, the County maintains of approximately 1,000 lane miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
