“Bob has dedicated the past two and a half years to helping residents of Keyport and Union Beach rebuild from the devastation of Superstorm Sandy,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Serena DiMaso. “The Board commends Bob for his tireless efforts to help two of the hardest hit towns in Monmouth County safeguard themselves against future storms.”

Mr. Burlew serves as the construction official for both Keyport and Union Beach. In his role in both communities, he oversees floodplain management and zoning compliance, does inspections and issues construction permits.

“Bob is a phenomenal individual,” said DiMaso. “In the aftermath of Sandy, he had to give people very hard news about their homes and did so with such kindness, heart and gentleness. He treated everyone as though they were his family—and they are.”

The Freeholders presented Mr. Burlew with a certificate of recognition at their regular public meeting on May 28 in Keyport.
