County Bridge O-26 maintenance scheduled

Bridge closure expected to last three weeks

 

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ – County Bridge O-26 over Whale Pond Brook on Monmouth Road, between Lake Avenue and Cubero Court/Old Farm Road in West Long Branch, will close to traffic on Monday, March 30 for the installation of a pedestrian bridge and minor deck work.
The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic, weather permitting, by Monday, April 20.

“This work must be done to keep the bridge in working condition,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “We appreciate the patience of the travelling public while we work to get the necessary work completed.”

Motorists should expect travel delays in the area throughout the project. All traffic will be detoured during the construction period. Signs are posted.

The works is being performed by Solid Rock Construction of Newark, NJ. The cost of construction is $387,116.

In total, the County maintains of approximately 1,000 lane miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
