“The Public Employees Charitable Campaign, administered by the United Way of Monmouth County, concluded in December with employees committing $34,821 through bi-weekly payroll deductions,” said Maria Wojciechowski, a Park System employee who served as the County’s Charitable Campaign chair.

“Charitable giving by County employees has increased by 33 percent this year,” Wojciechowski said. “Public employees have demonstrated their generosity by making contributions through voluntary payroll deductions. This money is welcome due to an economy that is impacting the fundraising abilities of many of the nonprofit agencies located in Monmouth County.”

As “Partners in Giving,” government employees throughout New Jersey were asked to contribute donations through payroll deductions.

“I want to thank each and every public employee who was involved in this year’s charitable campaign,” Freeholder Director Gary J. Rich, Sr. said. “Even in a tough economy public employees continue to show their compassion by donating part of their income to charity.”

“Public employees in Monmouth County are amazingly generous people who have opened their hearts and their wallets to help others,” Freeholder Deputy Director Serena DiMaso said. “I want to thank our public employees for their generosity and encourage even better participation next year.” 

The departments with the highest employee contributions were Buildings and Grounds, Library, Park System, Prosecutor’s Office and Reclamation Center.
