Private company project to continue next week;
road will remain open

MIDDLETOWN, NJ –The current project on County Route 520 between Jumping Brook Road and Harvey Avenue is being done by a private company, which has been instructed by the County to ensure minimal disruption to the traveling public in the area moving forward.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 15, the work will be done at night and motorists should expect lane shifts between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. instead of a full road closure. This will affect the eastbound lane only.

A sanitary sewer main is being installed for a residential development in the area. The work is anticipated to be complete by 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

“The County understands the inconvenience of this closure and has instructed the contractor that they cannot completely close this County road, after today, during business hours,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “For the safety of those working on the project and the motoring public, the road must be closed today, but it will be open by 4 p.m. This change will provide some relief to the traveling public and the local business community.”
