October events at the County Connection

County Connection offers free seminars and programs all month

NEPTUNE, NJ – The County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of October, covering a variety of topics gardening, diabetes management and Medicare.

“I encourage residents to take advantage of some of the great services provided at the County Connection,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry. “In addition to great workshops, the County Connection offers passport services, free notary public and many other services all free of cost.”

Over the last few years the popularity of container gardening has soared. On Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 1 to 2 p.m., the Monmouth County Master Gardeners will explain container gardens, which are easy to maintain, can be planted anywhere and can be tailored to fit just about any environment. Learn how to design a container garden to fits the needs of your own landscape and personality. There will be a demonstration on how to design, prepare, and care for container gardens and the sample garden will be given away at the end of the workshop.

The Monmouth County Office on Aging will host a workshop on managing diabetes on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 2 to 3 p.m. Diabetes has become an increasing concern for Americans of all ages. Although diabetes can impact one’s life significantly, there are ways to successfully manage diabetes including healthful eating, regular activity and medication. If you have been living with diabetes or are considered pre-diabetic, or even if you know someone struggling with this disease, this workshop will give you the tools you need to take control and make the most out of each day.

Join the SHIP Medicare experts on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 3 p.m. and learn about the programs available for Medicare beneficiaries. Learn how to receive financial assistance for out-of-pocket Medicare costs and about funding that is available for participants. If you have questions regarding assistance programs that pay for Part B coverage, the Low Income Subsidy for Part D or general questions regarding your Medicare coverage, sign up for this free seminar.
