Freeholder Serena DiMaso and Commissioner of Labor Hal Wirths were given a tour of the Sea Girt Armory on July 8 to see the progress of restoration and rebuilding projects at the base and had the opportunity to speak with the individuals hired for these positions through the National Emergency Grant.

“It is wonderful to be able to assist organizations that need help connect with people that are seeking employment,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso, liaison to the County’s Division of Workforce Development. “The Monmouth County WIB has received nearly $5 million dollars for Sandy recovery efforts and has worked with over 40 municipalities and non-profit agencies to engage unemployed individuals in the recovery efforts.”

All individuals hired at the base were recruited and interviewed by the staff of the County Division of Workforce Development. Approximately 60 individuals have been hired to work at the Armory and an additional recruitment is now being conducted for positions through the end of the year.

“In addition to the individuals hired at the Armory, more than 250 individuals have been hired through this grant,” added DiMaso.
