April events at the County Connection

Free seminars and programs offered throughout the month

NEPTUNE, NJ – The Monmouth County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of April, covering a variety of topics including gardening and services available to seniors.

There are plants that thrive in all different environments and this means shade too. If your garden is in a shady location there are still beautiful plants that can grow successfully. Explore all the gardening options and learn what plants grow best in the shade and how to make the most of any shady gardening spot at the “Shade Gardening” workshop sponsored by the County’s Master Gardeners on Thursday, April 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

“Senior Options-Finding the Best Services,” on Wednesday, April 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., will help you learn about the services that are available to senior citizens in Monmouth County. If you or someone you know needs assistance with everyday tasks such as food shopping, laundry, and having basic needs met, this program will provide information about receiving those services. It will also discuss arranging day care, medical care, transportation, community and government services and more.

The Master Gardeners will present a workshop explaining everything a gardener needs to know to successfully grow roses in Monmouth County on Thursday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn about the best spot to plant roses, how to care for them once they bloom, and the proper way to prune rose bushes after blooming.

The County Connection also offers the following recurring programs every month:

·         Meet with a Medicare Counselor every Wednesday by appointment.

·         Meet with a Monmouth County Surrogate representative on first and third Thursdays by appointment.

·         Meet with Monmouth County Veteran Services Office on second and fourth Thursdays by appointment.

All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828.
