Free income tax preparation offered at Monmouth County Library branches

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – For the past two decades, taxpayers seeking help with their income tax returns have found help at the Monmouth County Library.

This year’s tax preparation assistance, offered by AARP Tax Aide program volunteers, will be offered at three Monmouth County Library branches, beginning in February. Please bring last year's tax returns and an official ID with you.

AARP volunteers will be on hand at the Library Headquarters in Manalapan, the Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury, and the Wall Township branch of the Monmouth County Library. This service is available for low-and middle-income taxpayers with simple returns.

Please note: All taxpayers must be present when their tax return is prepared.  If filing a joint return, both taxpayers must be present.  In an effort to prevent identity theft, tax preparers are required by the IRS to ask for your social security cards or comparable documentation for you (and spouse and all dependents if applicable.) Please have them with you when you arrive.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. For more information, or with specific tax questions, please call 888-OUR-AARP  (888-687-2277).
