Freeholder Director Arnone honored

by business advocacy group

Monmouth-Ocean Development Council cites tourism achievement

 

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone was honored with aSilver Gull Award for tourism achievement presented by the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council (MODC).Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone


“I am extremely honored to be recognized by MODC for my efforts to promote tourism,” Arnone said. “Tourism is important to our local economy and I am proud to be part of the effort to increase tourism in the County. This is an industry that injects $2.1 billion into the local economy and supports 30,000 jobs.”

In order to support local businesses and give visitors the great experience they are looking for, Freeholder Director Arnone has fostered relationships and been an advocate for Jersey Shore visitation for the 2012 and 2013 Monmouth County tourism seasons.

“Each year we build on our tourism success,” Arnone said. “This year, we are rebuilding our boardwalks, restaurants, stores and rental properties. This tourism season will be different, but our community leaders and our residents are working hard and are ready to roll out the welcome mat for 2013.”

The annual Silver Gull Awards Dinner took place on May 2. The Silver Gull Award categories include MODC Service, Community Service, Economic Development and Tourism Achievement. Arnone was the sole winner in the Tourism Achievement category.

Freeholder Director Arnone stated that his goal is to continue to build the economic vitality of Monmouth County by advancing a county public information and tourism promotion campaign that will increase the number of visitors, visitor expenditures and tax revenues.

Freeholder Director Arnone has spent the past 15 years serving his community through his work as an elected official, serving as councilman, mayor of Neptune City and past president of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, before becoming a Freeholder in 2011.
