There are plenty of January events
 to keep you warm
Food, music theater and nature programs are on the schedule
 
FREEHOLD, NJ – The holiday season may be winding down, but reasons to enjoy all Monmouth County has to offer continue apace in January.
  • While most events are indoors, there’s nature to be studied at Sandy Hook. The Sandy Hook birding program has a tour on Jan. 221. Otherwise, there are art, theater, music, food and film to keep you warm.
  • The 33rd Annual Juried Art Exhibition features some of the finest artists in the tri-state region at the Monmouth Museum at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, Jan. 14 through Feb. 26. 
  • The Monmouth Museum also mounts “Chairish the Museum Exhibition, at which local artists decorate one-of-a-kind chairs, which can be purchased during the silent auction. It begins Jan. 14 and ends Feb. 10. 
  • On Jan. 14, author John Siegfried lectures on “Six Degrees of the Bracelet: Vietnam’s Continuing Grip” at the New Jersey Vietnam War Veterans’ Memorial, Holmdel. 
  • The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents “The Best of Playing With Fire” at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, Jan.14. 
  • Come Jan. 20, the Ocean Place Resort, Long Branch, Wine and Dinner Series offers an Italian Wine Dinner. 
  • Also on Jan. 20, an evening of Elvis’s music is presented at the Count Basie. 
  • Monmouth University’s 2012 Provost’s Film Series screens “Scheherazade: Tell Me a Story” on Jan. 30.
  • “Jitney” is staged at the Two River Theatre, Red Bank Jan. 31 through Feb. 19.
